SQL In Literally The City
October this year is shaping up to be a month of learning, especially for those of us who live in London. Because not only is SQL Relay taking place on the 30th, there’s also RedGate’s SQL In The City happening a week earlier on the 24th.
The venue is Grange St. Paul’s Hotel, so it literally is SQL in The City! The address is
10 Godliman Street London EC4V 5AJ UK 020 7074 1000
The hotel is not far from both Cannon Street and Blackfriars stations, so in terms of getting there it’s quite straightforward. Bank station is also about a 10 minute walk away, so a great location in London for people to get to even if they are not particularly local.

The agenda has 3 tracks throughout the day. 1 of the tracks is a set of all day drop-in, hands-on labs hosted by the RedGate team. The other 2 tracks are a mix of sessions that focus on deployment, continuous integration, source control and development. So I strongly suspect the speakers will be breaking out the RedGate tools during these sessions. Other than the tracks there’s access to the RedGate books library, Q&A’s and refreshments!
The cost to attend is £50. I have booked myself a place, and for £50 it seems very reasonable, although I am wary that it might turn into a total shill for RedGate tools. Like I’m not so naive to think that it won’t involve the speakers, some of whom are employees of RedGate, saying “hey look at these RedGate tools, aren’t they great!” and that’s fine because it is clearly costing them more than £50 per person to put this on. And in fact I’m looking forward to the hands on labs and using the tools provided. But there’s a difference between that and taking advantage of us being a captive audience. I hope I’m not disappointed and I’m sure I won’t be.
Hope to see you there!
