Well, it only took me on and off 8 months, but I finally completed the Duolingo French course.

For those of you not ITK, Duolingo is a very cool and very free (advertising not withstanding) tool that aims to gamify learning a new language.It also aims to get people to translate simple statements in documents. Amazingly, Duolingo is valued at nearly half a billion dollars!

I can’t say that I am now 40% fluent, despite what the app tells me otherwise, but I’m certainly better at reading and writing French, and I can listen OK. There are 20 other languages I could try my hand at, but I think for now I’ll rest on my laurels.
